Hey all,
I know I’ve been slacking on this blog sorry but I’ll try and be better in the future honest.
So I decided to write a piece today about the various tools I use day to day to improve how I work. I honestly believe these save me a few hours a day and prevent quite a few mistakes every day.
Snov.io

Every recruiter should have an email hunter in their arsenal my current weapon of choice is Snov.io. I have used many email hunters in my time but currently, I like Snov.io I find the chrome extension works well the emails it finds are very heavy on the work email address side of things whereas I would prefer a few more personal email addresses however it more than compensates with its ability to bulk hunt CVs. On top of this the fact, you can export the emails as CSV so I can easily get them into my ATS or anything else is a big plus.
Grammar.ly

Another plugin (get used to this will become a theme). I see this as the reason I don’t look like a twat 10 times a day. As some of you will notice from this blog my grammar is f@#!ing appalling so this thing is a lifesaver. I don’t notice any performance issues and thus far no obvious errors so I’m a happy chappy.
Todoist

Those of us who started in agencies will pretty much have had the idea of to-do lists my problem was always I never had my notebooks on me or I never had my pen on me so finding a digital solution around this was a revelation for me. Initially, I tried just using my calendar but this ended up clogging up my feed so I couldn’t see actual time sensitive alerts. With todoist, I can add items to my todo list from my phone or my laptop I can view it anywhere, have multiple lists and have colleagues add stuff to my list so all in all a pretty perfect solution.
IFTTT (If this then that)
I’ve long been singing the virtues of IFTTT, in fact, I even wrote a post on LinkedIn article about it last year (https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/5-ifttt-recipes-can-help-your-career-games-industry-benjamin-royce). I have used many recipes over the years and saves me all kinds of time so very big fan of this bit of kit. There are plenty of other blog posts on this subject with some great recipe examples so check them out.
Recruitin.net

Whilst I do know all the x-ray tricks and tips but sometimes I need to do it quickly or for one reason or another can’t be bothered to get it spot on this thing does all the heavy lifting for me. I absolutely love it!
Cool so that’s my list, for now, might write another one in a year or so on this topic when a new breed of apps are released to see if anything else comes to mind.
few honorable mentions
Lusha (another email hunter but I have a slight preference for Snov.io)
Google docs (left off this list purely because how much recruiters seem to overuse Google Sheets for stuff that they have an ATS to do this for them)
Outwit docs another searching tool but I didn’t include it as it’s got too many restrictions
