So some change is coming on the professional side of things might post a separate blog post once the dust settles on all of that because I’m pretty proud of myself on that along with finishing in the top 20 of the Sourcecon Grandmaster challenge feels like could be a couple of interesting posts for the future.
However, as part of these changes that are happening, I have been flexing my Tech Sourcing muscles for the first time in a while and one thing I have been keen to try out is sourcing on Leet Code.
Some of you might be wondering what is Leet Code? So Leet Code is a platform with over 130k profiles for engineers to develop their skills to get jobs specifically at FAANG businesses (Facebook, Apple, Amazon, Netflix, Google). And for some of you might be wondering why isn’t it called 1337 Code and I AGREE!!! but I digress.
Looking at the profiles you can see links to social media accounts, recent activity including the most recent questions answered, what language they are coding in and in some cases what companies they are prepping for. Imagine the potential for ultra personalised reach out!
So let’s walk through my thought process to X-Ray this site.
So I jumped on a random profile and look at some of the components of the profile and from what I can see it is broken down into 5 core components; Contribution, Most recent submissions, Progress, Recent Posts, Contest, Submissions in the last year, and Basic Profile and obviously Basic Profile seems to be a good place to start.
So I start with a pretty simple search “site:leetcode.com ‘Basic Profile'” and well that was a friggin disaster 600 results clearly not working. However, I noticed all the search results had the following format
[UserName] – Profile – LeetCode
So fair to assume that the – LeetCode part of it would be useless for hopefully obvious reasons I decided to focus on the Profile part.
So the next step was to include the profile part in my search so the next search was “site:leetcode.com intitle:Profile” and BOOM! 60k+ results.

Some of you might be wondering why are you celebrating this I thought there were 130K profiles why are you celebrating finding half them. Well, that’s because newer profiles won’t be indexed yet and there could easily be privacy settings that stop them from being found on google. Also, we have 60k candidates that’s enough for even the most spammy of recruiters.
When looking at the results I noticed that there are some chances for some near searches. So by going Company*[Company], you can find people from that company. Top Skills* can show the skills the kinds of questions they are trying to answer (cool trick here is that if you put a company name here you can see candidates who are prepping interview questions for that company and many others to explore.
Right well, that’s all for now! I’ll try to get a couple more up in between now and Mid-February but there is a chance that I get distracted by Football Manager or other video game so apologies in advance.
